1

Find a Dish to Recreate

Take a photo of a prepared dish you want to recreate. This could be from a restaurant, cookbook, food blog, social media, or even a dish you've made before and want to recreate.

2

Open Recipe Roulette

Launch the Recipe Roulette app and navigate to the home screen where you can access the camera feature.

3

Tap the Camera Button

Tap the camera icon button above the recipe input field. You'll be prompted to take a new photo or select one from your gallery.

4

Select Your Photo

Choose the photo of the prepared dish you want to recreate. Make sure the dish is clearly visible and well-lit in the photo.

5

AI Analyzes the Dish

Recipe Roulette's AI analyzes the photo to identify ingredients, cooking methods, and presentation style. This process takes just a few seconds.

6

Get Your Recipe

The app generates a complete recipe with ingredients, quantities, and step-by-step instructions to recreate the dish at home. You can then customize it to your preferences!

1

Clear, Well-Lit Photos

Good lighting is essential for the AI to identify ingredients and cooking methods accurately.

Good:

"Natural lighting, clear view of the entire dish, good contrast"

Bad:

"Dark photos, harsh shadows, or poor lighting"

2

Show the Full Dish

Include the entire dish in the frame so the AI can see all components and presentation.

Good:

"Complete dish visible, showing main components and sides"

Bad:

"Only part of the dish visible, or too zoomed in"

3

Multiple Angles Help

If possible, take photos from different angles. A top-down or 45-degree angle usually works best.

Good:

"Top-down view or slight angle showing dish composition"

Bad:

"Extreme angles or side views that hide components"

4

Focus on Prepared Dishes

This feature works best with fully prepared, plated dishes rather than raw ingredients.

Good:

"Fully cooked, plated dishes ready to serve"

Bad:

"Raw ingredients, partially prepared food, or ingredients in containers"

5

Include Context Clues

Photos that show the dish in context (on a plate, with sides, garnished) help the AI understand the complete dish better.

Good:

"Dish on plate with sides, garnishes, and presentation visible"

Bad:

"Dish in container or without context"
